Encounters on Fulton
People always complain about Fulton Street, so I took some pics of a few things I like about it:
Awesome cheap skirts imported from who knows where.
Colorful striped shirts for male shoppers, too.
This brand-new building at 1365 Fulton (New York Ave) has gorgeous plantings on each balcony, coordinated with planters on the roof and at the [...]

Play A Piano At Von King Park
[ June 21, 2010 9:00 am to July 5, 2010 9:00 am. ] Last week I tweeted about the free piano in a park participatory public art thing, “Play Me, I’m Yours” (here are the Times articles, if you missed them: Piano to the People! and Pianos as Public Art).
I went to check out the one in Von King Park:

What’s Up At Antidote Bike Shop?
The sleek, minimal, industrial-green signage of Antidote Bike Shop still stands out among the raucous storefronts that line Marcus Garvey Boulevard, but this past Saturday (4/24), its street frontage seemed to have been taken over by racks of merchandise from the neighboring West Indian shop.
Is Antidote closed? Did it ever really open?

Street Scene April 2010
[ April 18, 2010; 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. ]
Talk about urban farmsteads–I was walking down Lafayette Ave. behind a man and his toddler daughter when I heard the little girl exclaim, excitedly, “Chickens!” And sure enough, there is a coop full of clucking hens in a corner of the Hattie Carthen Community Garden. I’m hoping this means there will be fresh eggs for [...]
